RARE Vintage COLT Barry Wood Tuck-Away Folding Hunter Knife U1050, Box, Sheath

  
This is a Colt "Tuck-Away" folding hunting knife, designed by Barry Wood for Colt. It is model U1050, with brown micarta scales. The knife opens by lighting pressing down and outward on the cutout on the spine, which then releases the locking pin and allows one side of the handle and the blade to rotate down and forward until the blade locks in the forward position. The one side of the handle continues to rotate back until it locks in place. Closing the knife requires the same slight thumb pressure at the indentation to release the locking pin, then the one side of the handle is rotated back and around, catching the blade and aligning both with the other side of the handle in a locked closed position. This "swing lock" mechanism was used by Wood for most of his folding models.

There is a Colt Stallion logo on the pivot pin, and the blade is marked COLT HARTFORD CT. Included with the knife is the original Colt box, and Colt leather belt sheath with snap closure. The knife is in virtually new condition. I'd call it near mint. It has never been used, carried or sharpened - just played with.

The leather looks brand new. The box is in very good condition, with the original label. The Colt logo on the top is scratched. The knife functions flawlessly, locks up tight with no play, and the blade sits almost centered when closed. The blade is 3.25" long, and the closed length is 4.25".
